UV Laser-induced color centers in photosensitive glass — •Marc Talkenberg1, Christian Spitz2, Ernst Wolfgang Kreutz1, and Ralf Menzel 21Lehrstuhl für Lasertechnik, Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule, Steinbachstrasse 15, 52074 Aachen, Germany — 2Universität Potsdam, Institut für Experimentalphysik, Photonik, Am Neuen Palais 10, 14469 Potsdam, Germany

Color centers and microstructures are generated in photosensitive glass using nanosecond-pulsed UV laser radiation. Subsequent thermal treatment and wet chemical etching results in crystallisation of the laser-illuminated absorbing region and in the fabrication of microstructures. During laser-illumination color centers in the UV are generated and probed using optical spectroscopy, electron spin resonance and X-ray fluorescence. XeCl laser-induced excited-state absorption in Cer-doped photosensitive glass is presented using time-resolved pump and probe method in the UV and IR. On the basis of these investigations the color center-generation in multicomponent glass is discussed.
