The torsatron TJ-K is a device for investigating plasma turbulence of magnetically confined low-temperature plasmas using mostly Langmuir diagnostics. Although the plasma parameters are lower than in fusion plasmas, the normalized turbulence parameters defined by the drift Alfvén turbulence model are similar. Therefore the results are also relevant for magnetically confined fusion plasmas.
k-ω spectra of density and potential fluctuations are measured using Langmuir probe arrays. We use correlation analysis to find typical length and time scales of the turbulent events and their dependence on the drift scale ρs. The relation between the wavenumber spectra of the fluctuating quantities and of turbulent transport are investigated. The results are compared with extensive simulations carried out for different normalized parameters.
