Electron cyclotron resonance heating of the low temperature plasma in the TJ-K Torsatron — •M Michel, C. Lechte, M. Ramisch, and U. Stroth — Institut für Experimentelle und Angewandte Physik der Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel
An electron cyclotron resonance heating (ECRH) source at 2.45 GHz and a power of 6 kW was installed on the torsatron TJ-K. First experiments were carried out with O-mode heating at the fundamental resonance. Densities well above cutoff were achieved in stationary discharges. Results from parameter studies in hydrogen, helium and argon are presented: Plasma parameters and fluctuation data are compared with those from helicon heated discharges. A swept Langmuir probe is used to investigate the existence of a non-thermal electron population.
