Resonance effects of electron distribution function formation in spatially periodic fields — •Rouslan Kozakov and Christian Wilke — Institut für Physik Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Universität Greifswald
Election energy distribution function(EEDF) calculations in station-like sine modulated electrical field are performed. Dependence on a spatial period length was investigated. Calculations were made for discharge conditions pR=2 Torr/cm and i/R= 5mA/cm and electircal field E/p= 1.9 V/cmTorr.Presence of resonances on EEDF and macroscopic parameters are revealed. These resonances correspond to S- and P-striations that could be observed in experiments. The interpretation of the results, based on the analytical approximation of the nummerical solution is proposed. This approximation allows to extract an amplitude of EEDF which depends resonantly on period length. The amplitude is shown to have one resonant maximum at length corresponding to S-striation and two maxima at length corresponding P-striations. Probe measurments of EEDF in S-and P-striations with high spatial resolution are performed. Experimental results showed a good agreement with calculations of EEDF. Resonance behaviour of EEDF is discussed basing on linearisation of the Boltzmann equation in weakly modulated electrical field.
