With double pulse Thomson scattering (TS), high-resolution Te and ne profiles measurements are performed on the TEXTOR tokamak, which is, now besides NBI and ICRH also equipped with a dynamic ergodic divertor (DED) and ECRH (800 kW, 140 GHz, 10 sec). The profiles are measured at 120 spatial points along a chord of 900 mm with a spatial resolution of 7.5 mm. The system is capable of operating in double pulse mode, measuring two profiles in a discharge with a time separation ranging from 20 ms to 800 ms. Recently, the TS data analysis procedure has been improved by implementing a new fitting method and correcting for systematic deviations due to application of a 1D convolved fitting function.
The double-pulse Thomson scattering system has been used to investigate amongst others the internal Te and ne-profiles inside m = 2 islands. This paper will present a description of the system and the analysis procedure as well as the results on m = 2 islands.
