Supernova Search with the AMANDA Detector — •Nuria Sidro Martin — Universität Mainz

A supernova occuring in our galaxy would produce an intense neutrino burst containing most of its total energy. The AMANDA neutrino telescope can detect the positrons originating from the interactions which induce a simultaneous rate increase in all optical modules. The statistical analysis involves the application of a frequency filter and an artificial dead time. This talk describes new studies to optimize various parameters of these methods. These studies involve a detailed simulation of various photomultiplier characteristics. First results of data recently taken will be presented.
