Development of Monolitic Active Pixel Sensors for TESLA Vertex Detector — •G. Kramberger, on behalf of DESY-University Hamburg MAPS project — DESY/F1,Notkestr. 85, D-22607 Hamburg
The vertex detector of the experiment at future linear collider TESLA is required to have spatial resolution ( 5 um) large coverage (cos(Θ) ≤ 0.96), small radiation length (∼ 0.5%) and should be fast (read-out cycle of 50 µs). There are different silicon detector technologies proposed all utilizing pixel segmentation. The monolithic active pixel detectors (MAPS) are considered as one of the most promising candidates, due to their low mass, large scale availability and low cost. The DESY-University Hamburg group is involved in the following MAPS related R&D activities: device simulation, test-beam program, study of radiation hardness and in the mechanical design of the detector. An overview of work done on the project will be given with emphasis on device simulation and prototype test results.
