Crystallization of syndiotactic Polypropylene by means of Small Angle Light Scattering — •Takahiko Kawai and Gert Strobl — Fakultät für Physik, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität, Hermann-Herder Str.3, 79104 Freiburg
Small Angle Light Scattering(SALS) provides important information on shape, size and internal structure of object. We report on time resolved simultaneous VV(polarized) and HV(depolarized) scattering measurements for the crystallization of syndiotactic polypropylene(sPP) from the melt. The scattering pattern showed that sPP forms hedrite rater than spherulite. Both crystallization time and size of crystal increased with increasing crystallization temperature, while crystallinity and density calculated at the final stage of crystallization showed decrease. It indicates that the effect of stereo error in sPP chain which are included in lamellar crystal increases with increasing lamellar thickness, eg. crystallization temperature.
