Photocrosslinkable polymer brushes, new approach to chemical patterning — •Leonid Ionov, Sergiy Minko, and Manfred Stamm — IPF, Dresden, 01067, Hohe Str. 6
Stimuli responsive surfaces attract increasing attention due to possible use in wide range of fields such as: drug delivery, separation processes, biocatalysis etc. Adaptive polymer brushes is a notable representative of the such materials. These brushes consist of two incompatible polymers chemically tethered to the substrate. Anchoring prevents macroscopic separation of the system that allows switch surface properties of the film, for example, from hydrophobic to hydrophilic by environment control. We introduce new approach to chemical patterning. Initially double polymer brush is to be treated by selective for hydrophobic polymer solvent that switches brush in hydrophobic state and advance preferably this polymer to the top of the brush. Irradiation through the mask store the morphology by crosslinking in illuminated region and does not in shadowed one. Treatment by different solvents develop and delete the picture. Such chemically patterned structure was used for preparation of different types of liquid microstructure.
