Lattice Relaxation in Sr2FeMoO6 Thin Films, investigated by HRTEM — •Leonore Wiehl, Gerhard Jakob, and Hermann Adrian — Materialwissenschaftliches Forschungszentrum (MWFZ), Institut für Physik, Universität Mainz, Staudinger Weg 7, 55099 Mainz, Germany
Sr2FeMoO6 (SFMO) is known [1] to crystallize in an ordered double-perovskite structure with tetragonal symmetry (space group P42/m [1] or I4/mmm [2]). Structural details depend on preparation conditions.
Sr2FeMoO6 thin films (SFMO) on SrTiO3 (STO) substrate have been prepared by Pulsed Laser Deposition under various pressure and temperature conditions. The best crystal quality with rocking curve widths <0.05∘ was achieved at the lowest substrate temperatures, though in PLD low temperature is not necessarily correlated with low deposition rate.
The micro structure of such films was investigated by Transmission Electron Microscopy with a TECNAI F30. Diffraction photos and High-Resolution Images were made from cross-section specimen of SFMO thin films on STO and compared to calculated images [3]. A variation of the c-axis lattice parameter in growth direction was observed throughout the film from the growth interface to the surface.
