Monte Carlo Simulations of the 2D-Ising Model with Brascamp Kunz Boundary Conditions — •Thomas Vogel, Axel Krinner, and Wolfhard Janke — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Leipzig, 04109 Leipzig
We have studied the influence of special boundary conditions for the 2D Ising model, namely the Braskamp-Kunz (BK) boundary conditions, being periodic in one coordinate direction and fixed respectively alternating fixed in the other. Compared with fully periodic boundary conditions, the main advantage of BK boundary conditions is a considerably simpler representation of the exact partition function (in zero field). We will present our results of Monte Carlo simulations of this model obtained with different algorithms. We have calculated the density of states of lattices of a size up to 50× 50 with the multicanonical recursion and the Wang-Landau algorithm and also investigated the FSS behaviour of the specific heat with the Metropolis and a cluster algorithm, adapted to the special boundary conditions.
