Quantum pinning depinning transition in one dimensional systems — •Florian Krajewski1 and Martin Müser2 — 1Institut für Physik, WA 331, Johannes Gutenberg Universität, Mainz, Germany — 2Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada
We study the quantum pinning depinning transition for a discrete one dimensional Sine-Gordon chain and related models with the sinus shaped potential replaced by different kinds of disordered potentials. We use a path integral molecular dynamics simulation and the centroid molecular dynamics method. This allows us to calculate exactly the dispersion relation and a driving force velocity relation for the systems. For the Sine-Gordon model and disordered potentials with roughness exponent 0 we find a quantum pinning depinning phase transition while systems with roughness exponent 1 are always pinned and always show a gap in the dispersion relation.
