Electron-phonon interaction plays a key role in a variety of phenomena like light scattering, electrical transport, or superconductivity. We studied the electron-phonon coupling in isolated single-walled nanotubes for fully symmetrical Γ point phonons. By this we aim at understanding the Raman spectra of carbon nanotubes, which are still controversially debated. The electron-phonon matrix elements obtained are based on ab initio calculations of the band stucture of the nanotubes, under the deformation due to the phonon under study. The calculations were performed for armchair and zigzag nanotubes of different diameters between 4 and 15 Å. We discuss the radius and chirality dependence of the matrix elements and compare them with graphene.
