Quasi-one-dimensional magnetic correlations in Sr2RuO4 — •Ralph Werner — Institut für Theorie der Kondensierten Materie, Universität Karlsruhe, D-76128 Karlsruhe, Germany
Starting from the quasi-one-dimensional kinetic energy of the dyz and dzx bands a bosonized description of the correlated electron system in Sr2RuO4 is derived [1]. At intermediate coupling the magnetic correlations have a quasi-one-dimensional component along the diagonals of the basal plane of the tetragonal unit cell that accounts for the observed neutron scattering results [2]. The scale invariance of the magnetic correlations is reproduced by a conformally invariant description. The scaling dimension of x∼ 0.5 −0.6 is consistent with the intermediate coupling regime. The presence of four distinct peaks in the in-plane magnetic structure factor is consistent with the geometry of the bosonized action. Implications on other normal state properties and the nature of the quantum-phase transition in Sr2Ru1−yTiyO4 are discussed.
