The Heusler alloy Co2MnGe has been predicted to be a half metallic ferromagnet by electronic band structure calculations, making this alloy highly attractive for applications in spin electronic devices. We report first observations of an antiferromagnetic interlayer coupling in [Co2MnGe/V]n multilayers using polarized neutron reflectivity measurements. The in-plane GMR measured for the multilayer is very small, indicating the loss of half metallicity by disorder or interdiffusion. We discuss that a measurement of the GMR in cpp-geometry, which can be realized with our af-coupled multilayer, would allow to distinguish between interface and bulk electronic scattering and elucidate the potential of the Co2MnGe-phase in spin electronics.
