Time- and Angle-Resolved Electron Detectors for Experiments with Combined Laser- and Synchrotron Radiation — •Tatjana Giessel1, David Br"ocker1, Philipp Schmidt1, and Wolf Widdra1,2 — 1Max-Born-Institut, Max-Born-Strasse 2a, 12489 Berlin — 2Technische Universität Berlin
We have developed two new electron detectors for photoelectron spectroscopy. One of the detectors has been designed for an angle-resolving toroidal electron analyser with an acceptance angle of greater than 90 degrees. The angle information is read out by a multichannel anode and connected to the counting electronics using a 128 channel stripe line and discrete preamplifiers and discriminators for each channel. The capacity of this readout system reaches 20 MHz per channel.
The second detector has been developed for the time-resolved measurement of the electron signal behind an energy dispersive analyser. The achieved time resolution of better than 2 ns enabled us to assign the photoelectron signal to specific synchrotron radiation pulses in multibunch mode at BESSY. The purpose of this detection scheme is to set up a so-called pump-multiprobe experiment with combined laser and synchrotron radiation in multibunch mode at BESSY. The overall time resolution in the pump-multiprobe experiment is limited by the length of the synchrotron radiation pulses (appr. 30 ps).
