An ARPES Study of a 3D-to-2D Transition by Rb Adsorption of 1T-TiSe2 — •Salah Habouti, Olaf Seifarth, Lutz Kipp, and Michael Skibowski — Institut für Experimentelle und Angewandte Physik, Universität Kiel, Leibnizstr. 17-19, D–24098 Kiel, Germany
Layered transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) are often referred to as two-dimensional (2D), but this description is not fully appropriate, despite the highly anisotropic properties of these materials. In the case of clean 1T-TiSe2 we report on a 3D like electronic structure probed with angular resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) with synchrotron radiation supplied from the HASYLAB beamline W3.2. The 3D changes in situ to a more 2D like band structure under the adsorption of Rb. The availability of a material that can be made more or less No-dq2DNo-dq provides a wide field in the study of low dimensional systems and their electronic instabilities.
