X-ray standing waves in kinematical approximation — •Martin Tolkiehn and Dmitri Novikov — HASYLAB at DESY, Notkestraße 85, D-22603 Hamburg
The method of X-ray standing waves (XSW) is an effective tool for determination of adsorbates and dopants in surface and bulk structures of perfect crystals [1,2]. This direct method is based on the variation of the phase of the XSW field in the vicinity of a Bragg reflection. The common method of data evaluation cannot be applied to non-perfect crystals, because it is based on the dynamical diffraction theory. However the XSW field phase effects are also well pronounced at large deviations from Bragg diffraction conditions, where the kinematical diffraction theory is valid.
We analyze theoretically the XSW formation in the frame of kinematical theory and use the developed formula for analysis of experimental data from perfect GaAs as well as non-perfect Cu3Au. A good agreement of theory and experiment is observed.
