Decoherence in Systems of Coupled Qubits — •Josef Schriefl1,2, Yuriy Makhlin1, Gerd Schön1, and Pascal Degiovanni2 — 1Institut für Theoretische Festkörperphysik, Universität Karlsruhe — 2Laboratoire de Physique, ENS Lyon
We investigate decoherence effects in multi-level systems interacting with an environment in thermal equilibrium. In the weak-coupling limit, the dephasing rates are expressed in terms of the environment-induced transition rates and a pure dephasing rate. As a special case we discuss the effects of voltage fluctuations on a circuit of two capacitively coupled Josephson charge qubits.
In order to build a quantum computer we have to be able to communicate quantum information coherently from one qubit to another. Using a transmission line we can entangle two distant Josephson qubits and hence should be able to transfer a quantum state.
