A large-single-domain bulk YBa2Cu3O7−x sample obtained by melt-texture processing has been investigated by magnetoresistance R(H) and magnetization M(H) measurements in pulsed magnetic fields H up to 50 T. The measurements have been performed for two different orientations of the c axis of the sample with respect to the direction of the applied field, i.e. H ∥ c and H ⊥ c . Irreversibility fields µ0Hirr have been determined from R(H) and M(H) and show a good agreement to each other as well as with data received in dc fields up to 18 T. The temperature dependence of the irreversibility fields shows a linear increase with decreasing temperatures for both field orientations. The irreversibility field increases up to µ0Hirr = 42 T at T = 30 K for H ∥ c and up to µ0Hirr = 35 T at T = 80 K for H ⊥ c. Furthermore, upper critical field data determined from R(H) have been obtained.
