Domain Walls in 1D Systems - Quantum and Finite Size Corrections — •Markus Lippert, Hans-Joachim Elmers, and Peter G. J. van Dongen — Institut für Physik, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität, Staudinger Weg 7, D-55099 Mainz, Germany
We consider 1D domain walls in order to describe 1D nanoscale magnetic systems, in which these walls can be realized experimentally and can be measured. In our study finite size effects and quantum corrections are of particular interest. The finite size corrections are studied using a Landau theory and computer simulations. We use a systematic 1/S expansion to evaluate the quantum corrections. We compare to experiments and to previous results in the literature.
