We investigate the full spectrum of quasi-particles (holes) in t-J bilayers. Besides the two-hole continuum, the spectrum exhibits bound states of s-wave and d-wave character over a wide range of parameters. Applying an electric field perpendicular to the layers, a strong hybridization of the extended and the localized s-wave states occurs. Using strong-coupling series expansions around the strong interlayer coupling limit, our investigations focus on the determination of the symmetry of the lowest lying two-hole pairing state depending on the electric field strength and the intralayer coupling. - [1] A.Grzesik, S.Trebst, H.Monien, and M.Sigrist, Quasi-particle bound states in inhomogeneously doped t-J bilayers, in preparation. - [2] S.
