We consider electrical transport through a single molecule coupled to metal electrodes via tunneling barriers. Using the Anderson model as the simplest interacting model to approximate a molecule we extend the “orthodox” theory to compute the shot noise to arbitrary order in perturbation theory in the tunnel couplings. Specifically, we show that by a combined measurement of current and shot noise, it is possible to deduce deteailed information on the coupling strength of the molecule to the left and right electrode, even in lowest order perturbation theory.
