Effective action of electrons interacting with local lattice fluctuations — •Stefan Blawid — Institut fuer Mathematische Physik, TU Braunschweig, Mendelssohnstrasse 3, 38106 Braunschweig

Dynamical mean-field theory has proven to be a powerful approach to calculating the influence of local lattice fluctuations on electronic properties of metals. For the Holstein model the resulting simplified effective action may be analysed for a wide range of electron-phonon couplings and resulting groundstates exploring the smallness of the adiabatic parameter γ yielding insights beyond Migdal-Eliashberg theory. We demonstrate the usefulness of such approaches by calculating isotope effects on electronic properties in the metallic state including the charge-density-wave transition temperature, spectral function, resistivity, and optical conductivity.
