Comparative Studies of the Electrical Transport Properties in CSD and PLD YBCO Coated Conductors — •Jens Hänisch, Kerstin Demmler, Laura Fernandez, Aarti Singh, and Bernhard Holzapfel — IFW Dresden, Helmholtzstraße 20, 01069 Dresden
For a low cost fabrication of YB2C3O7 coated conductors, chemical deposition methods for the buffer structures and the superconductor are more and more important. The behaviour of these conductors in magnetic fields, with respect to the influence of grain boundary networks on the critical current density is interesting for future applications.
We investigate I(V) characteristics of coated conductor samples prepared via chemical solution deposition (CSD) and pulsed laser deposition (PLD) at several temperatures around 77 K and in magnetic fields up to 9 T. Electron backscattering (EBSD) and texture measurements give information about grain-boundary distributions and the average grain boundary angle.
The influence of preparation method, grain boundary distribution and sample thickness on critical current density Jc and cross-over field Bco are discussed and compared with simulations.
