Spin and charge ordering transitions in superconducting cuprates — •Matthias Vojta1, Anatoli Polkovnikov2, and Subir Sachdev2 — 1Institut für Theorie der Kondensierten Materie, Universität Karlsruhe — 2Department of Physics, Yale University, New Haven, USA
We discuss the competition between different ordered states in cuprates. We argue that the proximity of the optimally doped system to a superconductor with co-existing charge/spin order naturally explains a number of experimental observations. In particular, we discuss superconductors with coexisting static 1d or 2d bond-centered charge order, and also those with dynamic, but impurity-pinned spin/charge order, and compare the resulting density of states modulation with recent STM experiments.
