In the semimetallic compound CeBiPt a strong temperature dependence of the Shubnikov-de Haas (SdH) oscillation frequency is observed [1]. This temperature-dependent Fermi surface might indicate a possible hybridization of the 4f electrons. In the non-magnetic sister compound LaBiPt such an effect in the electronic structure does not occur. By extending the magnetic-field range of the magnetoresistance measurements up to about 50 T in the pulsed-field facility at the High Magnetic Field Laboratory Dresden (HLD) at the IFW Dresden we observe in fields above about 25 T near the quantum limit a drastic change of the electronic band parameters. The SdH oscillations cease and a strong increase of the magnetoresistance is observed. Measurements of the Hall resistance indicate an increase of the charge-carrier density in fields above 25 T.
