Doppler-free spectroscopy using magnetically induced dichroism of atomic vapor — •Torsten Petelski, Marco Fattori, Giacomo Lamporesi, Juergen Stuhler, and Guglielmo Tino — Dipartimento di Fisica, LENS - Universita di Firenze, PoloScientifico dell’Universita di Firenze, Via Sansone 1, I-50019 Seto Fiorentino, Italy
A new Doppler-free spectroscopic method is demonstrated and tested on 87Rb and 85Rb vapor. By using a magnetic field to induce a dichroism on the sample, a dispersive signal with low background can be obtained, allowing the lock of a laser even on small spectroscopic features. This simple and easy method is compared to other common spectroscopic methods.
