Analysis of Angular Distributions and Quantum Path Interference Effects in Strong-field Photodetachment of H. — •Rainer Reichle, Hanspeter Helm, and Igor Yu. Kiyan — Fakultät für Mathematik und Physik, Universität Freiburg

Recently, we determined the differential photodetachment rate of negative hydrogen in a strong-field regime over a wide area in the phase space of the electronic continuum state [1]. Excess photon detachment channels up to four photons above threshold appear in the spectrum. We simulate this process with the help of an analytical Keldysh theory and account for the spatial and temporal profiles in the laser focus, as well as ponderomotive energy shifts. A direct comparison shows excellent agreement between theory and experiment. We present an analysis of the energy resolved angular distributions in terms of complex partial wave amplitudes. The conformity of the theory with semiclassical approaches implies an analogy to a double-slit configuration [1]. In this picture, the two equivalent paths describe the observed quantum interference effect near the threshold. We analyze this interference effect within the Keldysh approach and outline the conditions at which it preferentially occurs. Supported by the DFG (SFB 276 C14).
