High harmonic generation from positronium in strong laser fields — •Björn Henrich, Karen Z. Hatsagortsyan, and Christoph H. Keitel — Theoretische Quantendynamik, Fakultät für Mathematik und Physik, Universität Freiburg, Hermann-Herder-Str. 3, D-79104 Freiburg, Germany

The quantum dynamics and high harmonic generation (HHG) from positronium in infrared laser fields up to 1013 W/cm2 are considered theoretically [1]. The quantum treatment based on the solution of the Schrödinger equation generalizes the Lewenstein model to describe a two body problem. Both the Lorentz force due to the laser magnetic field component and the center of mass motion are taken into account. It is shown that in the positronum case, in contrast to atomic HHG, the drift in the laser propagation direction due to the magnetic field does not reduce the HHG intensity when the center of mass does not experience a drift in the polarization direction of the laser field. In addition the spectrum for moderate laser intensities shows signatures of the center of mass motion in the propagation direction.

The feasibility of weak coherent γ ray generation based on laser induced annihilation of positronium in a strong field is discussed as well.

[1] Essential discussions with Dieter Habs are greatly appreciated.
