Localization and delocalization of core holes in photo excited molecules — •Svante Svensson — Dept. of Physics, Box 530, S-751 21 Uppsala, SCHWEDEN
A short review of the last thirty-five years of the fascinating story of
localization of core holes in molecules will be given, with a short
reference to applications in various fields of materials science. The main
part of the talk will be focussed on the development during the last few
years, when third generation Synchrotron Radiation facilities have opened
up the possibility to study localization properties of core holes in great
detail by electron and ion spectroscopy. A few topics will be covered:
– Effects of delocalization on core ionized states of
molecules
– The symmetry No-dqpurificationNo-dq in the O1s XES
spectrum of
oxygene
– The Auger Doppler effect - electron and ion spectroscopy
results.
– The Collapse of vibrational structure
– No-dqInterference quenchingNo-dq in resonant Auger spectra
of
molecules
– No-dqAtomic HolesNo-dq in resonant Auger spectra from
ultra-fast
dissociating molecules
– Recent results from rare gas clusters
