GEO 600 and its implications for the next generations of gravitational-wave detectors — •James Hough — Institute for Gravitational Research, Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Glasgow
With the commissioning of the current generation of gravitational-wave detectors, plans are already being made to export the advanced technology of the German/UK GEO 600 gravitational-wave detector to be the basis of three Advanced LIGO detectors in the USA. Meanwhile experiments towards the next stage in the evolution of GEO are being started. In this talk the present and future suspension and optical technologies of GEO will be discussed in terms of their potential for the detection and study of gravitational radiation by detectors of longer arm-length.
