Femtosecond photoelectron imaging of negative ions — •Roland Wester1, Arthur E. Bragg2, Alison V. Davis2 und Daniel M. Neumark21MPI für Kernphysik, Postfach 103980, 69029 Heidelberg — 2Department of Chemistry, University of California Berkeley, Berkeley, CA, 94720, USA

In recent years, femtosecond photoelectron spectroscopy has developed into a powerful tool to study dynamical processes in small molecular systems. Work in our laboratory has focussed on dynamics in negative ions and size-selected negative ion clusters, using this technique to study, for example, photodissociation, charge-transfer and vibrational wavepacket dynamics. Recently we have improved our detection scheme to measure energy- and angle-resolved photoelectron images. Having experimental access to the time-resolved photoelectron angular distributions allows us to observe subtle changes in the electronic symmetry of the molecular potentials. Furthermore, coherent rotational alignment and its revival dynamics can be studied. Results for both effects will be given.
