High-resolution UV-laserspectroscopy on jet-cooled 9-cyano-anthracene and 9-(N-carbazolyl)-anthracene — •Elke Heinecke1, Ian Mitchell1, Christian Monte2, and Wolfgang Rettig3 — 1TU Berlin, Institut für Atomare Physik und Fachdidaktik, Berlin — 2Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung, Berlin — 3HU Berlin, Institut für Chemie, Berlin
We focus on high resolution laser spectroscopy of large organic molecules cooled in a supersonic beam. By resolving the rotational spectra, information about the molecular structure could be derived. An investigation of the rotational structure of the vibrationless S0→ S1 transition of 9-cyano-anthracene at 382 nm is presented. The rotational constants of the electronic ground and first excited state were determined and compared with results of quantum chemical calculations. The partly resolved rotational structure of some vibrationally excited bands of 9-(N-carbazolyl)-anthracene is also presented.
