Phase-Coherence Properties Of Supercontinua Generated In Microstructure Fibers — •Nils Haverkamp, Joern Stenger, and Harald R. Telle — Phys.-Tech. Bundesanstalt, Bundesallee 100, 38116 Braunschweig, Germany
Recently microstructure fibers were developed which allow the pulses of a mode locked laser to be spectrally broadened very efficiently. It was shown, that in the frequency domain the broadened spectrum is of comb structure, i.e. composed of phase-coherent equidistantly spaced lines. The origin of the observed phase-coherence remains yet to be resolved.
We report on the phase-coherence properties of different spectral components of the supercontinuum emission spectrum of a microstructure fiber. The phase-coherence properties are interferometrically analyzed with spectral resolution to reveal possibly non coherent processes involved in supercontiuum generation.
