We investigate the properties of a frequency comb generated at 1.5µm by a stabilized stretched-pulse mode-locked Erbium-doped fiber laser. Stabilization is obtained via optical heterodyne between the frequency-doubled fiber laser spectrum and Ti:Sapphire wavelengths. We demonstrate synchronization of a mode-locked fiber laser to a stabilized Ti:Sapphire laser with a timing jitter less than 13fs, as well as frequency stabilization between the laser offset frequencies. Stabilization of the fiber laser allows for the extension of a frequency comb into the optical communications bandwidth, which has a wealth of applications to both optical metrology as well as ultrafast science.
