Quantum Jumps for Recently Investigated Dipole-Interacting Three-Level Systems — •Volker Hannstein and Gerhard C. Hegerfeldt — Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Göttingen, Bunsenstr. 9, 37073 Göttingen
Cooperative Effects in the quantum jump statistics of two dipole-interacting three-level systems of a type recently discussed by Skornia et al. [1] are investigated. Explicit expressions for the transition rates between the three intensity periods are calculated using a pertubation theoretical approach for the Bloch equations. This also allows the complete determination of the double jump rate.
The cooperative effects obtained are of the same order of magnitude as for two V-systems if the Rabi frequency of the exciting laser is smaller than the corresponding Einstein coefficient. Effects of the dipole-dipole coupling parameters connected with the weak transitions are shown to be of second order and negligible in most cases.
