Superposition and Entanglement are key elements and important resources for quantum communication and computation. We have used spontaneous parametric down conversion to direclty produce a highly symmetric polarisation entangled four-photon state. We will present experimental demonstration of invariance under unitary transformations and robustness of the entanglement against disposal of two of the 4 photons. We finally show how these states can be used for encoding quantum information in decoherence-free subspaces.
