Dynamics of Ultra-Cold Low-Dimensional Bosons using Density-Functional Theory — •Joachim Brand — Max-Planck-Institut fuer Physik komplexer Systeme Dresden
A time-dependent density-functional theory (DFT) is formulated for the dynamics of a 1-D Bose gas with repulsive point-like interactions at arbitrary interaction strength. The approach relies on the fermionization taking place for strong interactions and interpolates between the bosonic and fermionic extremes for intermediate interaction strengths. This theory is relevant with respect to current and planned experiments with cold atoms in magnetic micro traps and optical lattice traps.
