A New Cooling Scheme for Indium Atoms — •Ruby dela Torre, Vanessa Leung, Jiayu Wang, Dietmar Haubrich, Ulrich Rasbach, and Dieter Meschede — Institut für Angewandte Physik, Universität Bonn, Wegelerstr. 8, 53115 Bonn
We are investigating conditions for a two color laser cooling scheme of an Indium atomic beam for atomic nanofabrication. Since there are no closed transitions available from the indium ground state, we employ two diode lasers at 410 nm (15 mW) and a frequency doubled TiSa laser at 451 nm (60 mW) with 3 sidebands generated by an AOM and an EOM.
We present our cooling scheme and systematic studies on optical pumping.
