We show our results of trimming the transmission characteristics of two dimensional moderate refractive index photonic crystal structures by photobleaching. The slab waveguide core was made of a polymer which contains nonlinear chromophores. These molecules change the refractive index under UV - illumination from 1.55 to 1.51 by photoreduction. Due to the lower index we see a clear spectral shift of the dielectric band egde. We also trimmed the resonance frequency of a two dimensional photonic crystal cavity. A good agreement between the experimental results and data which were done by finite difference time domain and plane wave calculations was achived.
