How fast are protons in double hydrogen bonds? — •M. Havenith — Lehrstuhl für Physikalische Chemie II, Ruhr-Universität Bochum
Hydrogen bonding and proton transfer are concepts which are of great importance in physical chemistry and biology. We started to investigate prototype systems in order to gain insight into these basic concepts. We use high resolution infrared laserspectroscopy as a tool for the study of intermolecular potential. We will further show how theory and experiment agree for benchmark systems, such as formic acid dimer.
