Multi Axis Groundbased DOAS Measurements at Bremen — •Thomas Medeke — Universitaet Bremen, Institut fuer Umweltphysik, Otto- Hahn- Allee 1, 28359 Bremen
Global pollution and climate change require worldwide investigation of the atmosphere to evaluate anthropogenic causes. Differential Optical Absorption Spectroscopy (DOAS) is able to detect simultaneously many atmospheric trace gases relevant to e.g. the stratospheric ozone hole (e.g. ozone, halogen compounds) or smog which results from fossil fuel-combustion and biomass burning (e.g. tropospheric ozone, nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde). The Bremen DOAS Measurement Network (BREDOM) consists of seven ground based stations at different latitudes. All instruments will be operating at different observing geometries - a new application of the DOAS method to distinguish between stratosphere and troposphere up to a determination of slightly resolved profiles. In this poster, the instrumental realization of the new DOAS application is described and results of MAX (multi axis) DOAS measurements at Bremen are presented and interpreted with the full-spherical radiation transport model SCIATRAN.
