Global retrieval of CH4, CO2, H2O, and CO columns from SCIAMACHY: First results — •Michael Buchwitz and John P. Burrows — Michael.Buchwitz@iup.physik.uni-bremen.de
The SCIAMACHY near-infrared nadir radiance and solar irradiance spectra enable the retrieval of total column amounts of important atmospheric trace gases on a global scale. A number of scientific data products will be generated and made available at the University of Bremen. Compared to the official operational data products of SCIAMACHY scientific data products have the potential for higher accuracy and precision needed for certain scientific applications, e.g., to improve current greenhouse gas source/sink strength estimates. First results will be presented concerning the retrieval of CH4, CO2, H2O, and CO using the WFM-DOAS retrieval algorithm.
