The Radioactive beam Experiment REX-ISOLDE is a pilot experiment proving a new concept of post acceleration of radioactive ions at ISOLDE/CERN. It is now successfully operational since more than one year and will become a CERN facility in spring 2003.
Radioactive charged ions with an mass to charge ratio up to 4.5 are accelerated by a linear accelerator (linac) from 5 keV/u to the final energy between 0.8 and 2.3 MeV/u. The poster will present the results of commissioning measurements done to optimize the beam quality. Therefore emittance measurements and energy measurements with the different rf-cavities will be shown, focusing on the IH drift tube accelerator. Detailed measurements are currently on the way. Preliminary results show a typical normalized emittance of 0.35π mm mrad for the IH-accelerator.
