A first glimpse of Quantum Gravity at the LHC — •Christoph Rahmede — Berliner Ring 13, 65779 Kelkheim
The gravitational force is much weeker than any other force in the four-dimensional world that has been observed so far. That is why it is neglected in particle interactions below the fundamental scale of Quantum Gravity. If models involving Large Extra Dimensions (LXD) are considered this scale can be as low as the electroweak scale. As a consequence a tower of Kaluza-Klein-states might be produced at the LHC. Thus, graviton production in elementary particle scattering processes gets as important as QCD-processes in the standard model at the electroweak scale.
The resulting modifications of pT-spectra and corresponding energy loss will be presented in this talk.
