Quasiparticle Description of QCD at finite temperature and finite chemical potential (*) — •Michael Thaler1, Roland Schneider1,2, and Wolfram Weise1,2 — 1Physik Department Technische Universität München — 2ECT∗, Villa Tambosi, Trento, Italy
Recently, phenomenological quasiparticle models that schematically incorporate confinement have been successfully employed to reproduce lattice results of hot QCD at T≥ 170 MeV. We extend one of these quasiparticle models [1] to small quark chemical potentials µ/T≤ 1. Using this model we calculate the baryon number density and the pressure at finite µ and compare the results to recent lattice simulations and other quasiparticle models. These quantities yield stringent constraints for the form of the thermal quark mass. (*) Work supported in part by BMBF and GSI.
