Hypernuclear Bound States and Electroproduction of Strangeness on Light Nuclei — •Frank Dohrmann — FZ Rossendorf, Inst. f. Kern- u. Hadronenphysik, Dresden, Germany
Jefferson Lab experiment E91016 has studied the electroproduction of kaons, A(e,e ′ K+), on a variety of light targets, covering H2, D2, 3He, 4He, C and Al. Specifically, the measurements on 3,4He are the first performed. The missing mass distributions from targets with A≥ 2 may be described quantitatively by taking into account two important ingredients: 1) the hyperon-nucleon (YN) final state interactions as well as 2) full spectral functions taken from [1]. The quasifree production cross sections and their angular and energy dependence for the Λ and Σ hyperons on the various target nuclei will be presented. The Λ and Σ hyperons have different isospins. Therefore it is important to study if medium modifications may have potentially different effects on the production of these hyperons. Angular distributions for the hypertriton bound state on 3 He as well the Λ4H bound state on 4 He will be discussed. We also see evidence for the Λ12B bound state on carbon.
