Realistic interactions and short-range correlations in nuclei — •Thomas Neff and Hans Feldmeier — Gesellschaft für Schwerionenforschung, Darmstadt
A unitary operator is presented that explicitly induces short-ranged central and tensor correlations in the nuclear many-body state [1]. These correlations are caused by the strong repulsive core and the strong tensor force of realistic nucleon-nucleon forces like the Bonn or Argonne potentials. With the correlation operator we achieve a separation between the high- momentum and the low-momentum part of the nuclear interaction. The correlated interaction is defined in coordinate space and can be used as an effective interaction in mean-field as well as in shell model calculations. The properties of the correlatd interaction are studied in detail with no-core shell model calculations for light nuclei.
