Cluster structure of nuclei under constraints on the quadrupole moments — •Alberto Cribeiro, Hans Feldmeier, and Thomas Neff — GSI, Darmstadt
We minimize the energy of light nuclei under constraints on the quadrupole moments. An effective interaction derived from the realistic Bonn-A potential by means of the Unitary Correlation Operator Method is used. By this, short-ranged repulsive and tensor correlations are introduced into the many-body state. The trial state is constructed using localized gaussian wave-packets as single-particle states that are well suited for describing large deformations. In particular, the formation and survival of α-cluster structures is studied.
